The announcement comes after BCPS already suspended all non-athletic after-school activities from Dec. 22 through Jan. 7, as a result of the spike in COVID-19 cases in the region.

The school district has also stated that athletic practices and games can continue as long as students show proof of vaccination or undergo weekly testing, but all winter break games are canceled.

BCPS says it will only close all schools and move to districtwide virtual instruction if required to do so by local and/or state government officials.
